Service History: Current tube hours are less than 500. This unit was upgraded by PartsConnexion in 2013, with Kimber Kable wiring throughout, V-CAPs installed in the signal path, a new volume potentiometer (TKD brand), and upgraded resistors and capacitors in the power supply. It appears that the board has been jumpered to only accept the 12AT7 tube type. This jumper is soldered in place and must be un-soldered to change tube type to 6DJ8.

Other Notes: "The Sonic Frontiers SFL-1 preamp rose to fame in the 1990s as a giant-killer and was widely praised, reaching Class B on Stereophile's recommended components list. The SFL-1 has two preamp outs, tape ins and outs, and five line-level inputs. One is a direct input, which bypasses any non-essential signal paths and results in a slightly more dynamic sound. It has a mono switch."
