ESS SABRE 9028Q2M DAC 

Cambridge's highly acclaimed forerunner in network players, the CXN V2, was equipped with dual Wolfson DACs, which were considered top-of-the-line at the time. The CXN100, however, represents a significant technological leap forward. It features the cutting-edge ESS 9028Q2M DAC chip, which not only delivers superior audio performance but also outperforms any DAC previously used in a Cambridge network player, both in sound quality and technical measurements. The excellence of the ESS 9028Q2M's timing filter is such that it eliminates the need for a post-DAC filter, simplifying the signal path and reducing the intrusion of technology on the music. With the introduction of the CXN100, all Cambridge streaming products now incorporate ESS DACs, a choice driven by their efficiency and, more importantly, the exceptional sound quality they produce.

Although the exterior of the CXN100 might appear similar to its predecessors, Cambridge has implemented significant changes internally. The company dedicated hundreds of hours to meticulously listening and testing, selectively replacing key audio components like capacitors and op-amps. This process was aimed at fine-tuning the entire post-DAC analogue stage to achieve optimal sound quality. These enhancements were not only confirmed through rigorous listening tests but also validated with precise measurements. Balanced XLR Connectors

Gen 4 Streaming Module

At their London headquarters, Cambridge has been meticulously refining StreamMagic for over a decade. This innovative combination of hardware and software is the driving force behind all of their network players. Now in its fourth generation, this streaming module is the same advanced technology used in their award-winning Evo all-in-one players. The latest iteration of this module supports all current file types and resolutions, including up to 32-bit / 768kHz, DSD512, and MQA, all delivered in exceptional quality. MQA Now on Board

MQA, or Master Quality Authenticated, is an innovative technology designed to ensure that the full integrity of original studio recordings is preserved during streaming to playback devices worldwide. This technology is particularly well-known for its integration with TIDAL. MQA works by 'folding' the original high-resolution file, whether it's in WAV, FLAC, or another format, to reduce its size for easier streaming. These compressed files can be played back on any device capable of decoding the file's container format. However, to experience the full depth and detail of the original recording, a device equipped with an MQA decoder is required. This decoder 'unfolds' the file, revealing the complete, authentic track as it was initially recorded in the studio.

High Quality Internet Radio

The CXN100 incorporates mpeg-DASH (Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP) and HLS (HTTP Live Streaming) technologies right from the start, enhancing the quality and consistency of live streams for a more engaging internet radio experience.
