Other Notes: "...the famous blacker backgrounds—or this deeper silence which allows smaller nuances to emerge unhindered—and greater dynamics even compared to computer playback which was completely unexpected; greater depth and breadth of stage; and an overall more relaxed more fluid presentation that was at the same time more dynamic even though it may sound contradictory. It was probably my imagination but I also 'sensed' that a good portion of, if not all, the subliminal digital stress had been eroded. I don't know how best to describe that except by referring back to the comparison of a 1990 first-gen CD player and a mid-level player from five years ago, like a Raysonic when that brand still had any reputation to stand on. The first generation player would have sounded metallic, small, compressed and aggressive; the Raysonic would have had body, scale and flow. The PK90 now went a further step in that direction, albeit without any excess whilst staying fast and dynamic. It was that rare piece of equipment which manages to balance tone, speed and dynamics."
