In the 1990s, in the midst of a change in mindset toward refinement for the HiFi audio hobby, Nordost announced their presence with a very different looking — and very excellent sounding — speaker cable called the Flatline.

With the Flatline, Nordost extruded a new material called FEP over flat copper ribbons, resulting in a wide, ribbon shape that became instantly recognizable as Nordost’s early style. It was a deceptively simple solution for many of the issues that plagued traditional speaker cables.

Red Dawn speaker cables are an evolution of that technology, with many innovations and levels of refinement achieved in the years since Flatline’s introduction. Instead of using flat ribbons under extruded FEP, Red Dawn arranges groups of silver-plated solid core conductors into a ribbon shape for a similar but enhanced effect.

By using many small gauge connectors, the Red Dawn mimics the characteristics of the ribbon approach while also lowering the capacitance of the cable. The dielectric effect is kept low, and electrical characteristics of the cable are ideal, and they are “tunable” with adjustments in spacing and gauge.

If Leif Series was a concert, Red Dawn would be the headliner. It’s the last stop on the Nordost train before Norse 2 and the introduction of the Micro Monofilament technology, and it’s the highest performer for Leif. Red Dawn is for audiophiles looking for refinements in frequency response, phase accuracy and timing without sacrificing emotion and musicality.
