Like all models in the Prophecy range, the prophecy.c incorporates a custom Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass-loading system. However, this version is more intricate, making it a standout full-range loudspeaker in its own right. The groundbreaking design places the two mid/bass drive units at different points along the long-folded transmission line, which has the remarkable effect of reducing coloration in the vocal range—crucial for clear dialogue—and enhancing integration with the treble driver. Additionally, the front-venting LaminairX system allows the speaker to be positioned close to walls without compromising performance.

ATL - Advanced Transmission Line

A transmission line speaker design positions the drive unit at the end of a long, highly-damped tunnel that absorbs unwanted mid and high-frequency energy emitted from the rear of the driver. Meanwhile, it allows the lowest frequencies to exit the line in perfect phase with the front-facing radiation, significantly boosting bass performance. This technology is effective across a wide bandwidth of approximately two octaves, centered around the transmission line's resonant frequency. Within this range, it tightly controls the movement of the drive unit, dramatically reducing distortion and enabling higher output levels.

The resonant frequency of a transmission line is determined by the acoustic length of the line, which corresponds to one-quarter of a wavelength. Achieving this balance requires careful consideration of numerous factors, from the driver’s parameters to the length, taper, profile, and foam placement within the line.
