PMC prophecy9 Floorstanding Speakers Key Features:
- ATL Bass-Loading - Natural, realistic sound and deeper bass from a smaller cabinet
- Laminair Ports - Faster, cleaner bass with less air noise due to reduced turbulent airflow
Product Description:
The flagship of the prophecy series, prophecy9 is a state-of-the-art floor-standing model, raising the performance bar for hi-fi loudspeakers. Nothing in its class even gets close.

The entire Prophecy range offers a soundstage far beyond what their compact sizes might suggest, but the flagship prophecy9 takes this to a whole new level. It exceeds all expectations, delivering unmatched soundstage depth, dynamic range, and sheer musical enjoyment.
At the heart of this exceptional performance are the precision soft dome tweeter and the 55mm soft dome midrange driver, both housed within a specially profiled baffle featuring proprietary waveguide technology. This design allows the prophecy9 to produce rich, tangible vocals and beautifully extended high frequencies, creating a truly immersive sense of space within the recording.
The pair of custom long-throw bass units, combined with PMC’s Advanced Transmission Line and enhanced by the revolutionary LaminairX airflow technology, offer both extraordinary bass extension and the ability to capture every subtle detail in the low end. Whether playing at whisper-quiet volumes or delivering a powerful, visceral impact, the prophecy9 excels across the spectrum.
Although the prophecy9 performs beautifully with modest amplification, it’s a speaker that will evolve alongside your system, revealing more as your setup grows. Its sleek, elegant styling—featuring full-face grilles attached with concealed magnets—ensures that even the largest model in the Prophecy range fits seamlessly into any room.
ATL - Advanced Transmission Line
The hallmark of PMC’s renowned, natural sound lies in its Advanced Transmission Line (ATL) bass-loading technology, a system that has been professionally tested and trusted globally. For a deeper understanding of how it works, explore more from the tech lab at PMC.

A transmission line speaker design positions the drive unit at the end of a long, highly-damped tunnel that absorbs unwanted mid and high-frequency energy emitted from the rear of the driver. Meanwhile, it allows the lowest frequencies to exit the line in perfect phase with the front-facing radiation, significantly boosting bass performance. This technology is effective across a wide bandwidth of approximately two octaves, centered around the transmission line's resonant frequency. Within this range, it tightly controls the movement of the drive unit, dramatically reducing distortion and enabling higher output levels.
The resonant frequency of a transmission line is determined by the acoustic length of the line, which corresponds to one-quarter of a wavelength. Achieving this balance requires careful consideration of numerous factors, from the driver’s parameters to the length, taper, profile, and foam placement within the line. Each of these variables affects the others in intricate ways, meaning they must all be optimized together for the best result.
The complexity and precision needed to perfect this design make it a challenge that only a few companies, like PMC, have mastered—explaining why PMC is one of the few to successfully develop and refine transmission line speakers.
Lanimair X Technology
A decade after PMC’s engineers revolutionized audio with the introduction of Laminair, the Prophecy series showcases the latest advancement: LaminairX. This new iteration works in perfect harmony with PMC's ATL technology, raising the bar for both sound quality and musical enjoyment.

LaminairX unlocks the full potential of ATL, offering improvements that are both technically groundbreaking and immediately noticeable to the listener. ATL designs rely on high-speed airflow and complex fluid dynamics, but LaminairX takes things to the next level. By introducing precise aerodynamic control, LaminairX reduces turbulence and drag, minimizing resistance and cutting harmonic distortion by up to 3dB. This results in cleaner, tighter bass with exceptional timing and a dynamic range that’s simply unmatched.
Moreover, the all-metal LaminairX device is isolated from the main speaker enclosure using a layer of sustainable, pure cork. This design feature not only stabilizes the speaker but also anchors it for superior control, enhancing overall performance.
