Cosmetic Description: 8/10 Excellent condition with minimal visible cosmetic wear including a small dark smudge on the left side of the right speaker, and a darkened spot on the left side of the left speaker.

What is Included: Pair of loudspeakers, factory boxes and most of factory inserts

Functional Notes: The tweeter ribbons appear to be slightly loose, especially the right speaker tweeter ribbon. Neither touch the magnets however, and both are functional and sonically sound good (balance is fine). Woofer ribbons exhibit a small amount of de-lamination noise when listening at a close proximity to the speaker, playing bass-heavy music0- though de-lamination of ribbons is not visible. Otherwise, operational condition of this item is excellent, fully tested and no further issues found.

Other Notes: "The Caliper was Apogee's first 'small' full range 2 way ribbon speaker. However small sized did not mean easy to drive.

The impedance was an average 3ohms but was more difficult to drive than that suggests. It required a brute of an amplifier, at the time only something like a Krell KSA-50 was man enough for the job. It would be interesting to know what people used to drive them other than the Krells of the time...With a compatible amplifier, the magic the Calipers weave on voice, their holographic, unforced, imagery, and the uncolored upper midrange and treble, add up to no problems with passing the goose-bump test."
