Product Description

The PowerPlay IPC9000 is our most sophisticated globally accessible AC power conditioner. The IPC9000 is a 10 outlet device that cleans, protects and connects to the outside world simply, easily and with zero setup.

PowerPlays are web enabled and allow anyone anywhere in the world to control an entire system over the Internet. PowerPlay accomplishes this through the use of Cloud Computing . Cloud Computing, incorporated into the PS GlobalNet™ , is unique to PowerPlay and not utlized by any other company in our field.

They are easy to setup and do not require a fixed IP address or setup hassles of any kind as is common with all other brands of web addressable power conditioners. With PowerPlay you simply plug it into an Internet enabled network connection and you’re done. True plug and play through the PS Audio Cloud.

The PowerPlay solves one of the biggest headaches found in any home theater installation. Down time.

Virtual service calls

Home Theater installation experts install the vast majority of modern Home Theaters. These experienced installers have most likely worked on dozens of installs and they have one very common problem when the work is done: system lockup.

One piece of equipment or another locks up or fails to operate and the Home Theater customer can be left with a non-functional system.

Typically the installer has to drive out to the customer’s home and reset the power to the malfunctioning equipment so his client can watch a film or listen to music. It doesn’t happen often but when it does it’s no fun for either the dealer or the customer.

PowerPlay solves this problem once and for all. If a PowerPlay is installed in the customer’s home, not only does the customer enjoy clean and safe AC power, but the dealer or installer has instant access to every piece of equipment in the customer’s home and help is a simple mouse click away.

PowerPlays help keep your system running and everything green

Once your system is powered by a PowerPlay AC conditioner all you or your dealer/installer needs to do is go to the web through any web enabled device, including a Blackberry or iPhone, and access the PowerPlay. From the PowerPlay’s control panel any connected equipment can be rebooted, turned on or off, or have its status checked. It’s that simple.

PowerPlay will also monitor your power line quality and report any problems to you through the web page, text alerts or emails sent anywhere you wish. It’s up to you. PowerPlay’s real-time and on-line measurement system includes surges, voltage levels, power usage and power quality as measured by THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) on the line. With a PowerPlay system installed, not only can you check system and power line status from anywhere in the world, get emails sent to you from the device (if you want) and be assured you’re always connected to the internet, but you will also be able to go a lot greener than ever before.Â

The PowerPlay will allow you to schedule system ‘vacations’ or down time so you’re not burning power when you don’t need to. This can be in the middle of the night, or when you’re on vacation and when you’re ready, PowerPlay turns everything back on for you zone-by-zone. Perhaps there are a few critical components you want to remain on, but others are OK to shut down and save power. No problem.Â

With PowerPlay you can select any or all zones to control. For instance, you would never want to shut of your outside communications such as a modem or networking, so these remain always on and ready. Everything else can take a vacation when you do and save you money.

To access this feature there is a simple graphical calendar. Simply click on the dates you want the system to turn off and the dates you want it to come back on and everything will be ready for you upon your return.

It’s truly a unique system of power management and control, unprecedented anywhere in the world.

Auto reboot capabilities
How many times has your home’s modem or router locked up and denied you Internet access? Probably plenty and to fix the problem, you need to pull the power connector out of the modem and reboot the device. With PowerPlay on the job this tedious routine is a thing of the past.

PowerPlay allows any zone to be set as an auto reboot zone. Once set, PowerPlay keeps a watchful eye on the Internet connection and should it be disconnected, PowerPlay will automatically reboot your modem, router or any device plugged into that zone. In most cases, homes using PowerPlay will never have to experience Internet down time again.

 Input naming and customization

With 10 zones available on the IPC9000 it is important to know which piece of equipment is being powered by which zone. On PowerPlay it’s easy. You can name each zone anything you wish, either from the 9000’s front panel touch screen display, the 9000’s internal web page, or over the web via PowerPlay’s easy to use graphical interface

Reporting and measuring capabilities

Every home’s AC power is different and PowerPlay monitors, inspects and reports everything you or your dealer need to know about power quality in the home. PowerPlay gives you real time monitoring of power outages, power surges and hourly measurements of voltage levels, power usage and power quality by the onboard Total Harmonic Distortion analyzer.

The data is stored on our servers and available via the web interface for PowerPlay. Customers and their designated dealers can look at power quality over time, or drill down to specific times of day to find out if there’s a problem involving the home’s power. Our research over the years has shown that sagging voltages, high distortion and multiple brownouts are occuring more than one might think. With the installation of a PowerPlay PC in the system, you can accurately record events and present them to either the utility company for repair or add other PS power tools to solve problems.

 Email alerts

Some power quality problems can be serious, such as repeated brown or blackouts, high levels of surges or equipment downtime. Many dealers and installers will want to know right away if one of their customers has a problem in the system so they can take immediate action.

PowerPlay is setup to generate email and text alerts to any designated recipient. The four events that can trigger a notification event are: PowerPlay offline, Auto Reboot event, UPS Battery alarm and a monthly summary of all events. So, in the event communication with the PowerPlay is lost for any reason, an automatic reboot event occurs, or if the attached PS PowerPack UPS has a potential battery problem, your dealer will be automatically notified of the problem by the email event system internal to PowerPlay.

IR control of every piece of equipment

In some events it will be necessary to directly control the attached equipment. For example, if there is a power outage and the PowerPack UPS takes over delivering power to the system, it may be necessary to start shutdown procedures on some equipment. Projectors, for instance, should have their lamps turned off while keeping their cooling fans running long enough not to damage the projector bulb. The commands to turn off the projector bulb, turn on or off a piece of equipment while power continues to remain on are handled through infrared (IR) commands similar to a hand held remote for the same device.

PowerPlay can be assigned up to 15 separate IR commands for any zone and these IR broadcasts can be triggered by any number of assignable events. This helps PowerPlay maintain complete control over not only the AC power to your system, but by directly controlling that same equipment through a remote control.

 Intelligent UPS control

An important part of the PowerPlay system is the optional PowerPack UPS. The PowerPack is a 1500va pure sine wave battery backup generator that will power a large part of most systems if there is an outage. The PowerPlays communicate directly with the PowerPack UPS to make decisions based on battery usage as well as the importance of a piece of equipment in the system.Â

For example, it is probably critical to maintain outside communication through a modem or router in the event of a power outage; but not as important for a subwoofer to remain powered. With PowerPlay you can assign any zone an importance level that will permit that zone to shut down if the battery of the UPS falls below a certain level, thus protecting the system for hours at a time in the event of a power outage.

Phone control

The IPC9000 has yet another feature that may prove to be of critical importance in the event of a communication loss or if there is no internet available in the home: telephone control. If you cannot access the PowerPlay from the Internet, you can call via telephone. A voice activated control system will speak with you and provide access to turn on or off any zone over the telephone. This is just one of the many safety features of the PowerPlay 9000 (not found on the IPC8000).

AC cleaning and protection

The PowerPlay 9000 has 10 separately controllable AC receptacles, fed from 5 isolated cleaning zones. Each cleaning zone has both common mode as well as differential mode AC cleaning that lowers noise by an amazing 80dB. For safety of connected equipment, the PowerPlay 9000 features 7344 Joules of spike protection as well as fully automated over/under voltage control for surges.Â

The PowerPlay line of AC power conditioners provides world class power cleaning and safety, with a remarkable degree of control and simplicity of installation unmatched by any product anywhere in the world.

All home theater and well done high-end music system protect their investments by running everything through a power conditioner. Why not make sure that power conditioner does more than just clean and protect? After all, your investment is one worth protecting as well as maintaining in good order.
