NAD 3045 Vintage Stereo Integrated Amplifier; New Audio Dimension
This is a rare piece of NAD history. Most people don't even know what the letters NAD stand for. This one has it printed right on the front which is pretty cool IMO. I didn't know what to expect when I auditioned this piece for the first time. I just thought it was an old NAD amp that would sound ok but not great. I was in for a very pleasant surprise. The only adjective I can use to describe the sound is very "tube-like". If you close your eyes, you will think you are listening to an old tube amp. Sounds a lot like my Dyna st-70 tube amp that I have here right now.
This unit was previously owned by a collector / audio technician. While he didn't make any modifications or repairs to it that I know of, it was very well cared for. Everything is working including both meter lights. There's no unwanted sound from any of the pots or switches that I can detect. Sound quality is superb. I will say that it is not a super high-powered amp... best used with speakers that are on the efficient side of things. But you will not be disappointed in the sound quality.
Cosmetic condition is very good as well. There's a tiny bit of thinning of paint along the front edge of the top rail. I can also see a slight rub mark on the bass knob. I don't see any imperfections on the face. There are some spaces on the top of the case where the black veneer does not meet the edge of the metal vents on top and you can see the wood. However, it looks like it may have come this way from the factory. All in all, this is a beautiful piece that will provide many more years of beautiful music. See photos for details.
