11.2-Channel Surround Sound for an Expanded Soundstage

The AV8801 Preamplifier features the ability to expand beyond conventional 5.1- and 7.1-channel configurations, with support for up to 11.2 channels. This expanded configuration uses DTS Neo:X to add additional front height and front width channels, resulting in the most immersive soundstage.

The AV8801's audio circuitry is packed with parts and technologies engineered for high quality sound, such as Marantz' proprietary HDAM (Hyper Dynamic Amplifier Modules), current feedback circuit, and a toroidal power transformer.

Flawless Acoustics and Equalization with Audyssey Processing

The preamp incorporates Audyssey MultEQ XT32 technology, which uses a microphone to gauge ambient sound and adjusts speaker levels accordingly. The result is a flawless acoustic environment where sound is balanced throughout the room. In addition, Audyssey DSX processing expands the front soundstage, producing a more enveloping and cinematic listening experience.

Audyssey Sub EQHT for Tight, Balanced Bass

The AV8801 also features Audyssey Sub EQHT, which helps deliver balanced bass output from one or two subwoofers. This technology ensures that bass is always properly equalized, so you can enjoy rich, resonant bass performance. And with Audyssey Low-Frequency Containment, you can crank up the volume late at night without disturbing the neighbors.

Video Upscaling Ensures Pristine Picture Quality

The AV8801 can upscale any HDMI video signal to 4K Ultra High Definition (3,840 by 2,160 pixels), providing four times the picture quality of 1080p. This enables you to use it with 4K Ultra High Definition televisions and video projectors. The preamp also supports traditional 1080p upscaling, making it suitable for use with most HDTVs. Controlling the preamp's upscaling settings is easy thanks to an intuitive on-screen GUI overlay.

Connects to Multiple Devices with Seven HDMI Inputs

With seven HDMI inputs and three HDMI outputs, the preamplifier can connect to a variety of HDMI-enabled devices, including set-top boxes, Blu-ray players, game systems, and media players. It also supports simultaneous dual HDMI output, so you can output a single video source to two different displays at the same time. The third HDMI output lets you enjoy a different program in another room.

Phono Input for Turntable Connections

The AV8801 is equipped with a variety of other ports, including a phono input that lets you connect to a turntable. Since signals from turntables are weak, they require amplification for playback on speaker systems. The preamp's phono circuitry prepares the signal from the turntable for amplification, letting you enjoy your vinyl collection at full volume without tonal distortion.

Other ports include component in/out, two optical and coaxial inputs, four Ethernet ports, six analog audio inputs (including one balanced XLR input), and a headphone output. The preamp also integrates an AM/FM HD Radio tuner, so you can listen to your favorite stations in high definition.

Versatile Networking Options for Wireless Streaming

By connecting to your home network via Ethernet, the AV8801 Preamplifier can stream online content or media saved on your network. The preamp also features AirPlay functionality, which lets you wirelessly stream music from an iPod touch, iPhone, iPad, or iTunes library. And with optional Bluetooth connectivity (via our RX101 Bluetooth adaptor), the preamp can also wirelessly sync with smartphones, tablets, and other Bluetooth-enabled devices.
