Cosmetic condition rating is 7/10 - This listing includes the following equipment…(2) S1S Subwoofers: The baffles and sides of the two S1S subs, which have 2241H drivers, are in good condition overall but the tops and bottoms are fairly scratched. In a normal setup, the S1M's are placed on top of these and you would not see the scratches.
(2) S1M Front Speakers: These are in very good condition. Although there are some scratches on the top and bottom surfaces, the baffles and sides are in good shape. All drivers are in mint condition and have hardly been used.
(4) S1A Side and Rear Di-Polar Speakers: These in very good condition, as well. All drivers are in mint condition and have hardly been used.
(12) Grills for the S1A surround speakers: Each S1A speaker has three grills…two to cover the di-polar speaker sides and one to cover the non-driver front. Overall, the grills are in fantastic shape with no stains, sags or tears. All of the front-facing grills include the JBL logo. On some of of the grills, the cloth is starting to separate from the edges of the frames, however, it should be easily re-secured. I didn't want to do this myself since I don’t know the proper procedure.
(1) S1-SPP Signal Processing Package: This package, which allows for manual setup of EQ, crossover and speaker switching functions, is the analog version of JBL’s SDEC digital signal processing unit. It includes the following equipment...(5) SPP-GE equalizers (5) SPP-AC1 crossovers (1) SPP-RPS1 power supply (1) MSW1 Music/Cinema Mode Switcher (1) S1-SPP tamper-resistant cover plate The handles for two sliders on two different SPP-GE eq’s are broken off, however, this does not affect the functionality since you can move them with a small screwdriver. As a bonus, the package even includes the rare S1-SPP cover plate to prevent tampering with the crossover and EQ settings. The solid black plate with Synthesis logo is shown in one of the pictures.
(1) SDEC 1000A: This is included as a digital alternative to the S1-SPP in the unusual happenstance you come across a copy of the JBL Synthesis DACS software. If not for a scratch on the faceplate which has been touched up, this unit would have been in excellent condition. Because of the scratch, I would rate the unit in good condition. I am unable to test it but it does power up.
(1) JBL Synthesis Power Sequencer: This is a very rare piece of equipment that enables you to drive the S1M speakers with your own amps. Although you will need to use either a JBL SDP or Lexicon MC series processor, you are not confined to using the JBL Synthesis amps (which are still very good by the way). It acts as both a power sequencer and speaker mode switcher, meaning, it can switch the S1M speakers between Music and Cinema modes without having to route trigger cables through S series JBL Synthesis amps. As a result, this special piece allows you to bypass the amp portion of the trigger systemso you can use whatever amps you prefer.
(1) Panamax Max 1000+ Surge Protector / Line Conditioner / Power Sequencer
(1) 72" Tall Lowell Equipment Rack: This is a well-built, heavy-duty rack which includes a large power strip, three rack shelves, fully-vented front door and partially-vented rear door. You would probably leave the rear door off for maximum flow-through ventilation. It has some scratches on the sides and back door, many of which have been touched up.
NOTES: I have collected electronic manuals for as many of the Synthesis One components as I could find. One of these provides the initial settings
for the S1-SPP Signal Processing Package. I will provide the manuals on a thumb drive.
Please view all of our high-resolution photos for full details of the cosmetic condition as well as exactly what is included. If something is not clear, please inquire with us prior to purchase.
