Dynaco Dyna PAS-2 / PAS-3 Vintage Stereo Tube Preamp / Preamplifier
This unit has a sticker on the back that says PAS-2. The original swears up and down that it is a PAS-3. My research says that there is almost no difference between the two models. There seems to be a lot of debate over whether there is in fact any difference between the two models.Â
Here is what the previous owner says about it: "It's definitely a PAS-3. I have another PAS-3 identical to this one with the exception being a "factory wired" unit they are identical, and mine says PAS 3x on the rear panel. The PAS-2 did not have the 12x4 rectifier tube (the PAS-2 only ran four 12ax7 tubes under its chassis with no other tubes) whereas the Pas3 runs the four 12ax7's along with one 12x4 rectifier tube for a total of five tubes. The PAS-2 only uses the four 12ax7 tubes for a total of four tubes. This unit has the rectifier tube, and it is completely identical both internally and externally to my other unit."
In either case - whether a PAS-2 or PAS-3, this is a really nice preamp. It has almost brand new electro-harmonix tubes installed. Cosmetically, there is some slight thinning of paint along the top, right edge. There is one tiny scratch on the face to the right of the volume knob. Otherwise, this is in superb cosmetic condition. See photos for details.Â
