"Manufactured from 2015–2019, the McIntosh D150 is a compact digital preamplifier and DAC supporting 32-bit/384kHz PCM, DSD64/128, and DXD. It features five digital inputs including USB, two coaxial, two optical, and a proprietary MCT connection, along with balanced XLR and RCA outputs plus a high-drive headphone amplifier. At its core is an 8-channel, 32-bit/500kHz Quad Balanced DAC housed in McIntosh’s signature slim-line black glass chassis with green-lit logo.

Sonically, the D150 is praised for its transparent, dynamic, and non-fatiguing presentation, delivering a wide, well-defined soundstage with lively yet smooth highs. Stereoplay rated it “Top Class” with 97/100 points, highlighting its performance with both hi-res and CD audio. It pairs exceptionally well with the MCT450 SACD/CD transport for secure SACD playback, making it an ideal digital hub for serious high-resolution systems."
