Product Description:
The AERIS XD from Legacy Audio is a loudspeaker system whose bold aesthetics are matched by its exceptional performance. This 4.5-way design is the first to feature the Legacy Dual Air Motion Tweeter—an advanced AMT technology—and incorporates an open-air dipole midrange, dual subwoofers with built-in bass amplification, room correction capabilities, and customizable craftsmanship accents.
AERIS XD debuts the Legacy Dual Air Motion Tweeter, a high-efficiency, high-power handling AMT variant, paired with a titanium-encrusted 8” midrange driver featuring a massive motor structure sourced from Italy. Low-frequency duties are handled by a 10” midbass and dual 12” subwoofers. These 12” woofers provide exceptional linear bass output with remarkable punch and clarity, offering a rich upper bass and seamless transition into the lower midrange, thanks to a 15-pound motor assembly.
Each speaker’s bass section is driven by 2 x 750-watt ICEpower® amplifiers, delivering deep bass extension down to 18Hz. Legacy’s 24-bit DSP Wavelaunch processor is included, providing room correction with balanced analog inputs and outputs to fine-tune performance. The speaker’s upper enclosure is designed as an open-air dipole, allowing fast decay of midbass frequencies and producing a spacious, airy high-frequency presentation. Construction includes a 2.25” thick baffle and 2” side panels, while the LED Crossover Illumination inside the top section highlights the complex crossover network.
Radiation control is achieved through the hybrid dipolar cabinet, minimizing side-wall reflections. The included DSP handles signal division, alignment, and frequency contouring. The user supplies two channels of amplification, while the Wavelaunch processor offers precise gain matching through adjustable output levels. Room anomalies can be significantly reduced using the 8-band parametric EQ available on each of the four inputs and eight outputs of the processor. For enhanced performance and greater control, Aeris XD is also compatible with the award-winning Wavelet 2 processor.
Aeris XD Internal Crossover
The crossover network in the upper section features silver high-frequency wiring, Clarity capacitors, and OFC point-to-point connections with a star-ground layout. This intricate crossover is housed within the speaker body and can be lit using an onboard switch to display the detail of its construction. The dual 12” woofers are actively crossed over and time-aligned by the included Wavelaunch or optional Wavelet processor.
