Cosmetic Description: 7/10 Good cosmetic condition with some minor visible cosmetic wear, including two missing tube cover screws on each amplifier. The edges of the faceplates have a few small nicks as well. The transformer cover on one amp has a scuff on the left side. Outstanding condition overall - the condition will please even the most discerning audiophile.

"The M100 Boxter derives its name from the “flat-four” Porsche engine. The name Boxter implies that the amp derives from the Wavestream Kinetics V8, but uses four output tubes instead of eight. It provides 100W power output from four 6550/KT88’s per channel, uses low negative feedback, utilizes two local feedback loops in the output stage to reduce output impedance and enhance driver control, and has very low driver distortion due to the use of choke-loaded KT77’s.

The Boxters will accommodate KT120’s that test with filament current in the range of 1.6A to 1.7A. The problem is that the filament current is not well-controlled in the manufacturing process for KT120’s. Some samples test at 1.9A. So you can use KT120’s if you can find a dealer who will test them for filament current.
EL34's can be used in place of the KT77’s. Matching of the KT77/EL34 driver tubes is recommended. Matching of the output tubes can be done by pairs, if desired, rather than quartets. Each driver tube pushes or pulls the pair of output tubes nearest to it. With unmatched tubes you will get more 2nd harmonic distortion, which many people prefer (the musicality vs accuracy camps).
Biasing of the tubes is done via the individual corresponding knobs and meter on the front of each monoblock. The correct bias value is listed next to each knob.
The XLR input is not true balanced, it converts to single-ended. With some circuits this causes hum & buzz. This can be avoided by using the single-ended inputs."
