Chord Electronics, a global leader in proprietary analogue and digital audio technology, has enhanced its acclaimed Mojo 2 DAC/headphone amplifier with the addition of a 4.4 mm headphone output and USB-C charging.

The significant upgrade replaces one of the original 3.5 mm outputs with a 4.4 mm socket, expanding compatibility with a broader range of high-performance headphones while retaining a convenient 3.5 mm connection. Both outputs feature independent volume memory, allowing precise level settings for different headphones.

Responding to customer feedback, Chord Electronics has also enabled switchable USB-C charging, making the Mojo 2 easier to charge via its existing USB-C input, now fully functional for both data and power. Importantly, these upgrades come without any increase in price—the class-leading Mojo 2 remains available for $650.

About the Mojo 2

Designed, engineered, and handmade in the UK, the Mojo 2 is a portable, high-performance digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) and headphone amplifier built on Chord Electronics’ proprietary technology.

At its heart is a custom-coded FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) processor running Chord’s proprietary digital audio code, refined over more than 20 years. This architecture delivers exceptional sound quality, whether used on the go, on a desktop, or within a hi-fi system.

A standout feature is the world’s first lossless Digital Signal Processor (DSP). The ‘UHD DSP’ is fully transparent, allowing comprehensive tone adjustments across the frequency spectrum without any degradation in audio quality. This gives the Mojo 2 unmatched adaptability with other hardware and precise control over digital music, regardless of recording quality, genre, or age.

The upgraded Mojo 2 also introduces a button-operated menu system with a mute function, four-stage crossfeed adjustment, button-lock feature for travel, and control over lossless tone adjustments and USB-C charging.

Battery performance has been significantly improved with a new FPGA-based charging system, providing faster, cooler, and more efficient charging with 75% less power loss and a minimum battery life of eight hours. An enhanced Intelligent Desktop Mode allows permanent connection to a power source without impacting sound quality or battery longevity.

Digital inputs include the updated switchable USB-C data/charging port, Micro-USB data, optical, and coaxial (with dual-data capability for use with the M Scaler).

Encased in a precision CNC-milled aircraft-grade aluminum chassis, the Mojo 2 combines rugged durability with exceptional aesthetics. Continued support for Micro-USB ensures full compatibility with the Poly streamer/server module for wireless streaming and Micro SD card playback.
