Product Description:
High Drive With Absolute Control
The A-1 Ver2 represents the heart of Soulnote’s integrated amplifier lineup, combining authoritative output power with uncompromising signal purity. Rated at 40 watts per channel into 8 ohms and doubling into 4 ohms, it delivers commanding drive while maintaining clarity, speed, and tonal integrity across a wide range of loudspeakers.
Single Push-Pull Darlington Output Stage
The output stage employs large TO-3P, low-Cob transistors arranged in a four-stage Darlington configuration. This topology eliminates transient smearing while providing exceptional current capability and dynamic stability. The result is an amplifier that responds instantly to musical demands, preserving impact and control without sacrificing refinement.
Fully Discrete, Completely Non-NFB Design
As with Soulnote’s flagship A-3, the A-1 Ver2 uses a fully discrete circuit with no global negative feedback. The design is intentionally kept extremely simple, incorporating only a selector and volume control ahead of the power amplifier stage. This approach preserves the natural freshness, timing, and openness of the music signal.
Newly Developed Bias Circuit
A revised bias circuit further improves the signal-to-noise ratio and refines low-level detail retrieval. This contributes to the amplifier’s quiet background and enhanced sense of realism, particularly noticeable during subtle passages and low-volume listening.
Ultra-High-Grade Resistors
To eliminate CR resonance without compromising bandwidth, Soulnote selected ultra-high-grade resistors whose impedance remains stable even at high frequencies. This ensures circuit stability while maintaining a wide frequency response and preserving musical vitality.
Advanced Power Transformer Design
The A-1 Ver2 features a newly developed non-impregnated toroidal power transformer. By intentionally lowering the secondary output voltage, Soulnote enhances current delivery, enabling the amplifier to exert firm control over modern low-impedance loudspeakers. This design choice results in an exhilarating, authoritative presentation without strain.
Flexible Inputs And Precision Control
Two balanced XLR and two RCA inputs provide versatile system integration. Input selection is relay-controlled, while volume is handled by a relay-switched resistor ladder, ensuring consistent signal integrity and precise channel balance at all listening levels.
