Cardas Clear Interconnect Cables Product Description:
Clear, the name for which the Clear cable line is named.
Clear was made possible by George Cardas’ invention of the Matched Propagation Conductor in 2010. These conductors, with both speaker and interconnect variants, match the propagation velocity of the signal through the copper wire to the propagation rate of the best available dielectric materials. This is an elegant solution to the intelligibility problem that has plagued audio cable since long before HiFi.
Early telephone systems used load coils spaced every few poles (also known as Pupin coils, for their inventor Mihajlo Pupin) to prevent amplitude and time delay distortion. Although this solution was was an improvement over the garbled sound created by the signal outpacing the dielectric, it was also a “fix it after the fact” approach.
It is fitting that George Cardas developed a significantly more elegant and effective solution, in that long before founding Cardas Audio, he spent years as a line engineer with the telephone company in Southern California.
The Matched Propagation Solution prevents the distortion from happening in the first place. By matching the propagation of the conductor to the dielectric through the use of specific pitch angles for each strand of copper wire wrapped around a core of Kevlar yarn, and the selection of hard to obtain, high performance dielectric materials with fast dissipation rates, the signal remains intact and intelligible throughout the length of the cable,
The result is a conductor that conveys an unprecedented level of realism and transparency, without any detriment to the musicality of the system.
The four 25.5 AWG Matched Propagation conductors in Clear are arranged in a trio suspended by Carbon impregnated air-tubes, held together with PTFE tape. This core is suspended by set of air-tubes 1 Golden Ratio step (1:1.618) larger in diameter than the inner air-tubes, held together with graphite tape, holding the dual composite shields at a precise distance from the conductors.
Clear Interconnect is terminated in either Cardas’s classic SRCA RCA connectors, or their premium CG XLR balanced connectors - which were designed for Clear itself.
Specifications:
Standard Terminations - Cardas SRCA or CG XLR. Hand terminated in Bandon, Oregon.
Design/Construction
Conductors - Matched Propagation Kevlar core, ultra fine Grade 1, 99.9999% pure oxygen free copper with SPN clear coat (Litz), gauge sizes scaled to Golden Ratio proportions and range from 41 AWG to 39 AWG. Cross-field layer geometry, insulated in ultra thin extruded PTFE jacket.
Geometry - Equilateral triad 3 conductors with anti-static LDPE air-tubes bound with carbon impregnated PTFE tape wrap. Outer layer uses PTFE air-tubes scaled 1.618 times larger than the core tubes to suspend the composite shield of tinned copper and magnet wire away from the signal carrying conductors. Finished in an ultra soft extruded TPR jacket.
Gauge - 3x25.5 AWG
Outside Diameter - 0.450”/11.43mm
