The new Diptyque DP160 MkII speakers represent the culmination of the company's expertise in crafting high-end isodynamic speakers tailored for the most discerning audiophiles. These speakers feature two bass-midrange cells engineered with the proprietary PPBM* technology, optimized to deliver a more extended, linear bass response. Their mechanical design is inspired by the Reference model, ensuring structural integrity and enhanced performance. A 55 cm ribbon tweeter, with its wide bandwidth, delivers exceptional coherence and a natural sound signature.

Technology

For over 30 years, Diptyque has been dedicated to delivering high-quality sound reproduction. Through extensive listening, comparison, and experimentation with a wide range of speaker technologies—electrodynamics, high-efficiency models, electrostatics, various ribbon forms, and rigid flat diaphragm speakers—they have gained deep insight into each system's unique strengths. While all these technologies offer undeniable benefits, they firmly believe that isodynamic loudspeakers, also known as magnetostatics, combine the most advantages, providing the most natural and lifelike musical reproduction.

The Advantages of Isodynamic Technology

• Diffusion over a large area by a plane wave, enabling immersive listening without a sound projection effect.
• Dipole operation, on both sides of the speakers, to recreate the spatialization of the concert in your listening room.
• The use of extremely thin mylar membranes for high speed and no drag effect.
• The same type of diaphragm is used from bass to treble; everything operates at the same speed, providing consistency in dynamic behavior across the spectrum.

Exclusive Diptyque Technologies

The isodynamic technology, well known to music lovers, was developed in the United States in 1970. Through numerous tests and experiments, Diptyque sought solutions to improve this technology and push back its limits, in particular for bass reproduction.

• PPBM®: Push Pull Bipolar Magnet is an innovative patented architecture. The large section of bipolar magnets, manufactured to specification, is located at the front and rear of the diaphragm. They make it possible to maintain the coil (aluminum tapes) in a constant magnetic field as the membrane moves, thereby ensuring perfectly controlled motion. The bass is more dynamic, and transient sounds are reproduced with precision. Listening to a grand piano is impressively realistic.
• A sandwich mechanical structure. Composed of the assembly of chassis in MDF and 2mm steel sheets, maintained tight by many mechanical screws. This set is perfectly rigid and non-reasoning; it is a mechanical reference that guarantees the absence of coloring and the respect of the timbres.
• Proprietary ribbon tweeters. The ribbon is produced using an isodynamic cell (Mylar film and an aluminum coil). It moves in an intense magnetic field made from neodymium magnets. These tweeters operate over a wide frequency range and mate perfectly with isodynamic cells. A simple crossover (12 dB per octave) allows a perfect fusion of the registers. The highs are soft, precise, and spin high, giving a sublime soundstage.
