The Tranquility Base Carbon is Synergistic Research’s first all-new Tranquility Base in over a decade. It features a chassis machined from a solid billet of aircraft aluminum, making it 50% slimmer and 80% more rigid than previous designs. Carbon fiber laminates were incorporated for superior control of mechanical and airborne vibrations. Advanced EM Cell technology, adapted from the Galileo SX PowerCell, combines with UEF Technology derived from the SRX cable loom to lower the noise floor, enhance dynamics, and expand soundstaging while delivering smoother, more extended high frequencies.

Condition at the Source

The Tranquility Base has been under continuous development since shortly after the launch of Synergistic Research’s first PowerCell line conditioner. In early 2010, lead designer Ted Denney began exploring applications for his patent-pending EM Cell technology, aiming to create an Electromagnetic Cell Field-Effect Conditioner capable of conditioning the signal within a component. Initial experiments involved flat EM Cells placed under components, testing multiple variants until an EM Cell was perfected to improve performance across a wide range of components. Various laminates were evaluated to cancel mechanical vibrations, with the option yielding the best sound quality selected. The first Tranquility Base debuted at the 2012 Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, and in 2015 the lineup was updated with UEF Technology. Since then, Tranquility Bases have been continuously produced with incremental improvements, but without any major redesigns—until the introduction of the Tranquility Base Carbon.

MiG 3.0 Isolation Footers—Set of 3 Included

The MiG 3.0 delivers an expanded sense of space in the sound field, improved low-frequency control and extension, and enhanced high-frequency air and detail. It offers greatly increased resolution without listening fatigue, creating a wall-to-wall holographic soundstage that conveys the performance enveloping the listener. Compared to isolation footers that rely on dampening, MiG 3.0 provides more extended dynamic range and spatial cues, while dampened footers often produce a flatter sound with reduced dynamic extension. Footers that primarily drain mechanical vibration can sound bright with less soundstage layering and reduced midrange warmth, whereas MiG 3.0 maintains a natural balance. When paired with a full suite of Synergistic Research components, MiG footers are likely the optimal choice, as they operate on similar principles and share the SR house sound found in SR cables, power products, and acoustic treatments.
