The iconic Planar 3

Rega has led the way in utilizing lightweight rigid plinths. The innovative application of a lightweight particulate core combined with a highly rigid phenolic resin skin laid the groundwork for the high performance levels achieved by the iconic original Planar range.

The new Planar 3 elevates this design philosophy. It features a lightweight acrylic laminated plinth reinforced with a newly improved double brace system, strategically positioned where increased rigidity is needed most—between the tonearm mounting and the main hub bearing—creating a structurally sound "stressed beam" assembly. This rigid plinth design prevents energy absorption and unwanted resonance, which can introduce unnatural distortions to the music. Additionally, heavier mass can transfer more unwanted energy, such as motor or bearing noise, directly into the rotating record. By using braces instead of a complete skin, Rega allows for double thickness phenolic resin in these critical areas, while further reducing the plinth's weight, effectively addressing issues of mass absorption and unwanted energy transmission.

RB330 Tonearm

The RB330 tonearm, crafted with the latest 3D CAD and CAM technology, represents the pinnacle of over 35 years of tonearm design expertise. It boasts a brand new bearing housing and a state-of-the-art tonearm tube, designed with intelligent mass redistribution to minimize potential resonance points. The new high precision bearing assemblies provide extreme stability and nearly frictionless movement, ensuring that this tonearm extracts more information from vinyl records than ever before.

Plinth

The high gloss acrylic laminated plinth offers enhanced stiffness and a significantly improved appearance, with an ergonomically positioned power switch for added convenience. It is available in three striking high gloss finishes: black, white, and red, as well as a new light oak effect introduced for 2024.

Double Brace Technology

Improved thicker 3 mm phenolic bottom brace and new metalized skin phenolic top brace.

Bearing Housing

Re-designed brass main hub central bearing, improved fit and construction reducing stress on the bearing itself.

24V Motor

Improved new motor control PCB with integration for the addition of Neo PSU for electronic speed change and improved advanced anti-vibration circuit (sold separately).

New motor cover tray with integrated cooling.

Dust Cover

Supplied as standard / optional lid - plinth protectors - supplied to prevent marks on the plinth and keep it looking its best.
