Product Highlights

Firmware: Sunlight

PS Audio PerfectWave DirectStream DAC MK1 supports maximum audio resolutions up to 24-bit/352.8 kHz PCM, DSD64, and DSD128, extending up to DSD256 over I2S, while accommodating streaming services including Tidal, Qobuz, Spotify, and Roon via the optional Network Bridge architecture. Designed by digital pioneer Ted Smith, this reference converter rejects off-the-shelf DAC chips in favor of a hand-coded Field-Programmable Gate Array. Every incoming signal is upsampled to single-bit high-rate DSD before passing through a passive transformer-coupled output stage, while a bit-perfect digital volume control allows direct connection to a power amplifier.

Critical consensus and owner reviews celebrate the DirectStream for delivering an exceptionally organic, analog-like presentation free of digital glare or fatigue. Listeners consistently praise its wide and layered three-dimensional soundstage, delicate micro-detail retrieval, and rich acoustic timbre that brings vocals and instruments vividly to life. Furthermore, the unit enjoys an iconic reputation in high-end audio for rock-solid reliability and its revolutionary firmware updates, which continuously refined its sonic performance and ensured lasting satisfaction for listeners worldwide.

By eliminating digital harshness and revealing the subtle emotional nuances within both legacy CD recordings and high-resolution master files, this converter breathes tangible life into any music collection. Integrating this reference-grade component into your system bridges the gap between digital convenience and pure analog warmth, offering a timeless centerpiece that elevates your entire listening experience.
