PrimaLuna EVO 400 Tube Preamplifier

PrimaLuna EVO 400 Tube Preamplifier. Featuring six 12AU7 tubes, two 5AR4 rectifiers, dual-mono topology, point-to-point wiring with Swiss silver-plated OCC copper wire, Takman resistors, DuRoch tinfoil capacitors, three RCA inputs, two XLR inputs, Home Theater Bypass, 256-ohm output impedance, and a 10 Hz–95 kHz frequency response, this flagship preamplifier delivers reference performance. Built with dual potted toroidal transformers and an AC Offset Killer circuit to eliminate hum, it regulates signal paths with extreme precision. Sealed relay input switching prevents crosstalk, while dual-mono tube rectification drastically lowers the noise floor.

Critics and owners praise the EVO 400 for pairing vintage tonal realism with modern transparency and speed. Reviewers highlight its expansive three-dimensional soundstage, rich timbral accuracy, and effortless dynamics. Audio journalists note that its ultra-quiet background reveals delicate micro-details and natural acoustic decay, calling it a benchmark tube preamplifier that competes with ultra-high-end designs. Users consistently laud its robust build quality, dead-silent operation, and seamless compatibility with various power amps.

Investing in a reference preamplifier often means sacrificing versatility, but this unit eliminates those trade-offs completely. Its hand-wired construction, tube-rectified power supply, and balanced connectivity ensure it will reliably serve as the centerpiece of your system for decades. Whether driving power amps through long cable runs or refining high-resolution sources, it unlocks the true depth of your music collection, making it a definitive long-term addition to any audio setup.
