The Norse 2 Series from Nordost is where much of the best trickle-down technology of Valhalla Reference and Odin Supreme Reference comes into play, beginning with the excellent value Heimdall 2. Speaker cables in the Norse 2 series also benefit from advanced "mechanical tuning" via their spacing and layout, among other adaptations from the top tiers. Heimdall 2 in particular hits a sweet spot between performance and value.
Nordost's use of heavy silver plating allows for excellent high frequency transmission, and a better cable relationship with the dielectric (cable jacket). This has a bonus of improving cable speed, or "velocity propagation". Ideal wave propagation means all music frequencies travel the same cable distance at the same (and hopefully very high) speed. The realities of cable physics and electricity make perfection impossible, but Nordost's achievement of 96% the speed of light for music frequencies in the Heimdall 2 is staggeringly good.
In Micro Mono-Filament cables, air is mostly the dielectric, meaning very little energy is absorbed during signal transmission, and nearly none is released afterwards. This makes for a speaker cable that offers superb detail, dynamic range and weight, recreating the natural beauty and impact of any musical performance.
Heimdall 2 mates perfectly with the Frey 2 and Tyr 2 cables in the Norse series, and the use of consistent technology and materials across a system can enhance effects and support synergy. Heimdall 2 will drive most speakers and satisfy most current demands, and a system featuring Tyr 2 power cables and Frey 2 interconnects, for example, is a possible combination to achieve a reference setup within the series. Norse 2 allows you to easily build a coherent cable solution, no matter the system.
