Product Highlights

MM Phono card installed ($450 upgrade).

The Moonriver Audio 404 Reference is a solid-state integrated amplifier delivering 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms backed by a high-current power supply and optional MM/MC phono stage integration. Designing this component to serve as the heart of an uncompromising two-channel system allows it to combine vintage ergonomics with high-end modern engineering. Its internal topology features a discrete active preamplifier stage, a massive 107,000-microfarad capacitor bank, and modular expansion bays for a phono board or USB DAC. Dual preamplifier outputs, a dedicated tape monitor loop, and balance controls provide total system flexibility, while its retro-inspired chassis with real wood side panels houses a high-gain circuit optimized for dynamic speed and signal purity.

Critical acclaim includes an Amplifier of the Year award from Hi-Fi+ alongside an Editor's Choice award from The Ear. Reviewers consistently praise its ability to project a deep three-dimensional soundstage while delivering tube-like mid-band warmth without sacrificing solid-state control. Audio publications highlight its exceptional transient response, deep bass authority, and knack for revealing fine musical textures across all genres.

Choosing this amplifier brings an effortless blend of analog character, physical craftsmanship, and refined power to your listening room. It eliminates electronic glare and establishes a grounded, highly engaging presentation that connects you directly to the emotional core of every performance.
