Product Highlights

McIntosh MCT80 SACD/CD Transport supports readable formats including SACD, Hybrid SACD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and CD/DVD data discs containing DSD up to DSD128, WAV (up to 24-bit/192kHz), FLAC, MP3, and WMA files. Engineered for pristine digital extraction in a compact chassis, this transport features a die-cast aluminum tray with a digital servo for quiet, precise playback. Its twin-laser optical pickup utilizes dedicated wavelengths for SACD and CD media, reading data at double speed for enhanced tracking and error correction. Output options include standard optical and coaxial outputs up to 24-bit/192kHz PCM, as well as McIntosh's proprietary MCT DIN output for delivering native DSD audio directly to compatible preamplifiers and DACs.

Owner reviews consistently praise the unit for delivering a clear leap in audio detail, instrument separation, and soundstage depth compared to legacy players. Listeners highlight its warm, non-fatiguing presentation and whisper-quiet transport mechanism. While some users note that remote programming features take time to master, the general consensus confirms that its playback quality extracts breathtaking nuance from both standard CDs and high-resolution SACDs.

Investing in a dedicated high-end transport allows music lovers to extract every bit of dynamic detail and spatial realism hiding in their physical media collection. By delivering an uncompromised, low-jitter digital bitstream directly to a high-performance DAC, it breathes vibrant new life into CDs and SACDs with the effortless refinement expected from top-tier audio components.
