Audio Research PH7 Tube MM/MC Phono Preamplifier

Audio Research PH7 features ultra-low-noise JFET inputs paired with four 6922 dual-triode vacuum tubes for audio amplification and RIAA equalization, backed by an electronically regulated power supply driven by three 6H30 triodes. Built with proprietary custom capacitors and specialized circuit boards derived from Reference-line engineering, it delivers 57.5 dB of gain and on-the-fly, remote-selectable cartridge loading between 100 and 47,000 ohms. Complete with a front-panel vacuum-fluorescent display and a practical tube-hour timer, this phono preamplifier extracts nuanced musical information from moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges with pristine clarity and poise.

Professional reviewers and dedicated audiophiles consistently praise the unit for its expansive, three-dimensional soundstage, articulate bass slam, and remarkably quiet background. Critical acclaim frequently centers on its ability to unite the liquid midrange purity and dimensional bloom of premium glass with the transient speed, detail, and pitch definition of solid-state circuitry. Long-term owners consistently commend its rock-solid reliability, dependable tube life, and transparent musicality, securing its standing as one of the most respected phono preamplifiers in the high-end audio community.

Elevating an analog front end with this level of circuit refinement unlocks deep reserves of texture, scale, and emotional resonance hidden within every groove. The ability to tailor cartridge loading right from the listening position makes dialing in optimal performance effortless, turning every listening session into an authentic, deeply engaging musical event.
