"If the ATC 50SE aren't ATC's crowning jewel, it's because there are bigger more authoritative iterations of ATC's special edition series. I'm not going to be an apologist for the price of ATCs 50SE. Many will have a chance to hear them, only a few can own them. So it goes. These speakers were a revelation to me from the moment they were powered up. I can't weigh in on a "value proposition," that's a question for others to resolve. However, for $65,999 you get two speakers, six discrete amplifiers (three per channel) and active crossovers for each speaker. Their performance peers, also painfully expensive, require expensive outboard amplifiers and cabling to sidle up to the performance of these ATCs.
