A "head amp" is designed to boost the signal of a MC cartridge so it can be used with an amplifier's MM input; it's not a standalone phono stage. It is placed between a turntable with an Moving Coil cartridge and the input of a Moving Magnet Phono stage on a preamp or integrated amp. This is a vintage piece perfect for the vinyl enthusiast using fine MC cartridges with an MM phono stage. It also offers variable cartridge loading options.
