Cosmetic Description: 8/10 Very good cosmetic condition with minimal visible wear, including several faint stains on the front faceplate and the top cover, and two small rub marks on the front near the bottom right corner. The plastic mounting on the rear right channel binding post is cracked and chipped, but still functional. The chassis just above it exhibits a subtle indentation. This item has some very light wear but still presents like new from your listening position.

I found it consistently engaging on a musical level, and I never tired of its silence, exemplary pacing, and timbral accuracy. Since I now run a fairly long set of interconnects between my amp and preamp, I found the Ayre's differentially balanced mode a real boon. I also admire Charles Hansen for reviving the inductive-choke power supply, a concept that may have lost its vogue but not its practicality. I rate the Ayre V-3 a success.
